Privacy policy
Effective from 13 October 2026
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Martin Larsson, Sweden, who runs Ringvald as a private individual. Questions about your data: contact@ringvald.app.
2. What we store
- Account: the username, name and email address you give when you create your account, and the public part of your passkey. Your passkey and your fingerprint or face never leave your device.
- Your savings: goals, amounts, dates, allocations, notes, settings (such as monthly saving) and the history of your deposits and withdrawals. These are numbers you type in yourself – no data from your bank.
- Shared savings trees: if you are a member of a shared savings tree, your membership is stored, and the other members see the tree's contents.
- Technical data: when you visit the site, the web server stores your IP address, the time, the address you visited and which browser you use. The app also logs what kind of request was made and whether it succeeded, but not its contents.
3. Why, and on what legal basis
We use your account and your savings to provide the service you asked for (contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We use technical data to keep the service running and protect it from abuse (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f)). We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions.
4. Where the data is and who sees it
Ringvald runs on a server at Hetzner Online GmbH in Helsinki, Finland. Hetzner is our data processor and may not use the data for its own purposes. Sign-in is handled by our own Pocket ID server on the same machine, not by any outside service.
Email from Ringvald (for example an export of your data or notice that your account is being deleted) is sent through Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), which is also our data processor. Brevo receives your email address, the message and any attached files.
Encrypted backups are also kept on a server owned by the data controller in Sweden. No data leaves the EU, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
- Account and savings: for as long as you have your account. If you choose Delete my account under Settings, everything is deleted after 7 days; until then you can sign in and undo it. It then disappears from the backups within six months.
- Web server logs (with IP address): at most 26 weeks. App logs: at most one month.
6. Cookies and browser storage
We only use cookies needed for you to sign in and stay signed in. That is why no consent and no cookie banner is needed. The app also keeps a copy of your savings and your settings in the browser, so that it works offline. That copy stays on the device until you clear site data for ringvald.app.
7. Your rights
You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have errors corrected, to have your data deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to get it in a machine-readable format. Under Settings you can export everything at any time (Export my data) and delete your account (Delete my account). For anything else, email contact@ringvald.app. We answer within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), or to the data protection authority where you live.
8. Changes
If the way we handle data changes, we update this page and the date above. See also our terms of use. If this English text and the Swedish version differ, the Swedish version applies.
